My Origin, My Story: Cindy Herrera

CINDY HERRERA

CINDY HERRERA

In Latino culture, a QuinceaƱera marks a girl's fifteenth birthday and her transition to young womanhood. It includes a religious blessing, a court of honor, and a grand party with traditions like changing of the shoes, presenting the last doll, wearing a tiara, the first dance, and surprise dances.

My QuinceaƱera had over 500 attendees, with a court of honor made up of 14 couples, plus me as the 15th. Despite not knowing half the guests, it was a blast! My favorite part was the weekly practices at my aunt's house, where we rehearsed waltz, bachata, and merengue choreography. These sessions were filled with bonding and laughter, and my family would ALWAYS cook some delicious food for us all. I will share a few pictures to showcase my Quince.
